Artist's Notes
(Bird Painting, Oil on Canvas Bird Paintings, Fledgling Cardinal)
The subject of this original oil painting is a fledgling cardinal. One of the most desirable backyard birds in North America, the northern cardinal is instantly recognizable. Northern cardinals are dimorphic, with male birds a brilliant red color all over that may be slightly duller on the wings. Males also have a black narrow facial mask around the eyes, bill and chin. Females are a buff golden tan with a red tinge to the wings and tail, and their facial mask is smaller and less distinct. Both genders have a prominent head crest.
As a Florida artist, I specialize in painting the wildlife scenes that we find in this part of our country. Using oils, I capture the wildlife, sunlight, multi-colored skies, the beach, the water, tropical birds, flowers, and other pleasures of this region on canvas.
Besides Florida paintings, I also offer paintings from other parts of our country. When vacationing in North Carolina, paint, brushes and canvases are always with me. I hope you enjoy this oil painting .
